WHAT'S MY LINE? AT SWAVESEY VILLAGE COLLEGE
234 Students from Year 7 (secondary)
Event Description
Young people are often unaware of the diversity of career options. This event helps to broaden their horizons by turning the usual career talk upside down. Students will be asking employers a series of questions as they try to guess what they do for work. Based in classrooms and requiring no preparation, volunteers will answer students' questions as they work towards guessing the career. Whether they get it right or wrong, the volunteer will ultimately provide an overview of what they do, how they got there and what they enjoy about their job. You will typically rotate through 3-4 classrooms throughout the event.
We are looking for volunteers from a variety of industries and backgrounds to take part in this activity.
If you or someone from your organisation is available, please register for more information about the event.
This event will support schools in working towards achieving Gatsby Benchmark 5: Encounters with employers and employees. Research from the Education and Employers Taskforce shows that a young person who has four or more meaningful encounters with an employer is 86% less likely to be unemployed or not in education or training and can earn up to 22% more during their career.
If this is your first event with us, please create a profile on our portal, it should only take a couple of minutes to sign up- https://www.formthefuture.org.uk/register/ (Info video how to sign up).
