Ambassador Spotlight with Kerry Peacock

Our Ambassador Spotlight today focuses in on Kerry Peacock who’s been volunteering with us since 2022 and pretty much does one What’s My Line, Careers Carousel, or Mock Interview activity per month! She tells us about what she gets out of it and how it supports her own development:

Name: Kerry Peacock
Job Title: Operations Analyst
Organisation: Cambridge University Press & Assessment

What other jobs did you do, before this one?
“Policy Assistant, Exam Processing Administrator, and various work experience roles in criminal law.

Complete this sentence:
“When I was growing up, I wanted to be a Criminal Barrister.”

Best piece of career advice you have ever been given?
“If you are comfortable in your role then you need a new one.”

When and why did you start volunteering with Form the Future?
“I started volunteering with Form the Future about two years ago because I wanted to push myself outside of my comfort zone and improve my communication skills.

What’s do you like most about being an Ambassador and/or what keeps you coming back?
“I like the variety of events that Form the Future run and I also like learning from people younger than myself.”

How do you know that volunteering with Form the Future makes a real difference to young people (do you have a story you can share, that illustrates this)?
“My role is not one that is well-known so when I tell young people about it, they learn something new about what job roles are out there.”

Putting aside the benefit to the student, how else has volunteering with Form the Future been a beneficial experience for you?
“It has helped with my confidence when working with colleagues in my company.”

What would you say to someone who’s wondering whether to sign up as an Ambassador with Form the Future?
“Just do it. You don’t know until you try.”

We share the Ambassador Spotlight in our monthly Ambassador Update emails, as well as on our website and social platforms. It’s a wonderful way to raise the profile of your own volunteering whilst supporting Form the Future in a new and different way.

If you’d like to feature in our next Ambassador Spotlight, email Dawn, our Ambassador Engagement Manager and she’ll send you questions to respond to.
