Form the Future are delighted to announce the launch of a work experience opportunity board on our ‘WEX’ online platform this month. Partnering with local companies to showcase up to date short term placements available in our region, which can be accessed through school careers advisors.
Supporting young people to access in-work experience can make a positive impact and allows students to better understand sectors they have an interest in and the experience can shape their future study choices. Most employers consider volunteering work, shadowing, and internships as work experience.
Kathryn Fladgate, Senior Programme Manager, commented “We are excited to be working with local businesses and partners to provide in-work experience opportunities to students in the region across various sectors. The opportunities create not only a pipeline for future talent for all but thanks to GCP Skills and the Region of Learning, also offers additional support for disadvantaged young people.”
Form the Future’s work experience framework not only encompasses students, but also companies, throughout Cambridge, Peterborough, and neighbouring counties. They provide advice and personalised options to companies wanting to set up meaningful work experience programmes.
By offering work experience placements, employers’ benefit in several ways:
- Staff Development
- Recruitment opportunities
- A more engaged workforce
- Engagement in your local community
- Contribution to economic development in your local area
- An opportunity to develop a talent pipeline to build a local workforce
- Gives an opportunity to those who may feel excluded
