For many of us busy parents and carers, it might have passed us by that last week was one of the biggest events in the UK careers calendar: National Careers Week (NCW 2025). This annual event takes place over one week in March and is designed to inspire and inform young people about their future career paths. It provides a range of free resources and activities for schools and other educational settings, including:
- Virtual Careers Fair – www.ncw2025.co.uk
- Panel discussions
- Workshops and webinars
- Employer information about their industries and the skills needed to succeed
Many of your young people will have taken part in NCW activities in school. You can also access the materials online. Several of these resources are available all year round allowing you to continue to explore your careers ideas together: www.nationalcareersweek.com
Parents and carers can download and read “The Parents’ Guide to National Careers Week,” which offers detailed information on vocational options after GCSE and sixth form, helping them support their children’s decision-making process: www.theparentsguideto.co.uk/nationalcareersweek
The “NCW 2025 Resource Booklet” has some useful information and links as well: www.nationalcareersweek.com/ncw-2025-resource-booklet
