EMPLOYABILITY SKILLS AT COTTENHAM VILLAGE COLLEGE
Event Description
Preparing for employability is about enabling individuals to gain the skills and experience they need to get, maintain and make progress in employment. Promoting themselves in a way that attracts the attention of selectors and recruiters, as well as managing the applications process, requires the individual to develop a range of self-presentation and marketing skills.
Preparing a CV or taking part in an interview are essential career management skills that we use throughout our lives.
Every student will have the daunting task of preparing for an interview, whether that’s for a part time job, college application or an apprenticeship. Help them to identify their strengths, learn about transferrable skills and gain confidence in speaking to new people. You could be asked to lead a workshop on interview skills or prepareing a CV or to conduct mock interviews or critique CVs.
Not only will you be sharing your expertise you will also give students an authentic experience of interacting with professionals in a comfortable setting.
If you or someone from your organisation is available, please register for more information about the event.
This session will support schools in working towards achieving Gatsby Benchmark 3: Addressing the needs of each student. Students are encouraged to identify the relevant experience and skills they have developed and how best to communicate these to prospective employers.
