Cambridge Unlocked by Form the Future connects disadvantaged young people aged 16 to 19 with employers offering experiences of work and internships. As part of the programme, students gain raised confidence, better social capital and valuable experience to not only help them navigate the next steps but showcase their skills and gained knowledge.
The programme places students with employers for one week, usually in school holidays to dovetail with studies. Often this is in summer but more companies are opting for Easter and half-term timings. We are flexible and can support you at any time.
We make Cambridge Unlocked easily accessible for employers. Form the Future’s team find the right students, manage the onboarding, prepare both young people and your staff for the placement and take away the stipend administration from your payroll. The programme involves any staff, but often early career employees take part in the mentoring and management development opportunities boosting their growth.
Ensuring students receive a stipend to participate is crucial; these young people often face financial hardship and the stipend unlocks the opportunity. Your offer to provide a placement could be the key-turning moment in a student’s career.
What Cambridge Unlocked will do...
Market the opportunity across the populations of young people in commutable vicinity to your business. We work in schools across the region and last year met with over 30,000 students.
- Handpick those students who are disadvantaged and find accessing these experiences near on impossible with a fair and transparent qualifying application form, an informal interview and pre-placement support webinars.
- Support staff with best practice in curating a programme and advise on existing models.
- Host employee webinars to ensure staff feel confident and well supported to receive the placement candidates.
- Ensure your business is ready by conducting a health & safety evaluation.
- Manage the stipend payment in-house.
Publicise your commitment to the programme through our PR & Comms campaign. - Conduct a full evaluation of the programme and publish an impact statement.
Investment in Cambridge Unlocked starts at £750 + VAT. We ensure half of your (pre-VAT) investment supports the student giving each placement a minimum of £325.
